SUNDAY SIPPINGS: MAJOR DICKASON’S BLEND

This Sunday, I’m switching it up a bit. I chose a tried and true, and in my opinion, classic coffee blend, Major Dickason’s Blend. I know (and understand) that people are very particular about their coffee. One of the most challenging things as a coffee shop owner is to get customers to try new things. People like what they like, and change is hard. People have very strong opinions about the way coffee should taste. You have your die hard Starbuck’s fans, and you have coffee drinkers who wouldn’t touch “mainstream” coffee if their life depended on it. Peet’s Coffee is definitely a national coffee brand that people both love and hate. Personally, I love them. They remind me of the West Coast, and there’s nothing wrong with remembering home.

Peet’s Coffee was established in Berkley, California in 1966. Well before Starbucks was a company, Peet’s started out wanting to change the coffee market and bring better coffee to Americans. Without them it could be entirely possible that coffee as we know it would be totally different.

I’m sipping on Major Dickinson’s Blend today, I chose it because it’s their signature blend and one of their best all-time sellers. It’s a darker roast with a full-bodied flavor. I can see why it’s one of their most popular blends. It was perfect for iced coffee!

For dark roast lovers, this Major Dickason’s Blend is definitely for you. I suggest to brew this coffee via hand-pour. It beings out all of the subtle nuances and hidden flavor notes that machine brewing loses.
