Have you ever made your own tea before? It’s really nice to be able to make a completely customized blend with control over all of the ingredients that go into it. I’m going to show you how simple it is with this spiced apple tea DIY.

This recipe isn’t technically a tea, it’s an herbal tea, which means it’s totally decaffeinated. Making it great for sipping throughout the day. Red rooibos is the primary ingredient. It has a light earthy flavor with a natural sweetness, which is ideal for this blend. It’s paired with honeybush, which also has a naturally sweet flavor with honey notes.

In order to get the apple pie flavor, flavoring herbs and fruit are key. I personally don’t add any flavor enhancers or additives to my blends so the flavor comes directly from the ingredients. That means it’s important to find the highest quality ingredients for that maximum flavor.

Which flavors do you think of when you you think of apple pie? My mind immediately goes to cinnamon, then nutmeg, then apple. I like to accentuate these flavors with the subtle sweetness of coconut, then add a hint of ginger and peppercorn to really step it up.

Be sure to keep this tea recipe in mind for the holidays. It makes a great gift and a popular beverage for upcoming holiday parties. I hope you give it a try! If you do, let me know what you think.
