Last Sunday I expressed my adoration of Paris by Harney & Sons. I’ve been sipping on it all week, it’s so good! I thought it would pair perfectly with poached fruit. Paris has a fruity flavor so I thought the pears and the tea would compliment each other well. I’ll show you how to make black tea poached pears.

The flavor is indescribable. I never knew pears could taste this way, saying they were delicious is an understatement. The flavor of the black tea accentuates the flavor of the pears and it’s intoxicating! Not to mention the aroma while cooking, everything about this dish is exciting and made for royalty.

  • 3 bags of Paris tea
  • 4 pears, peeled
  • 2 quarts of water
  • 2.5 cups of sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small orange, sliced
  • 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream (optional)

  1. In a large pot, simmer the water and sugar over medium-low heat until the sugar has fully dissolved. Stir occasionally
  2. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pot from the hot burner and steep the tea bags for 5 minutes, then remove them
  3. Add the cinnamon stick, orange slices and pears to the sweetened tea water
  4. Gently simmer until the pears are soft enough to be easily pierced by a fork, about an hour
  5. Remove the pears from the pot and either serve warm or allow them to cool to room temperature
  6. Serve with vanilla ice cream (optional)

Store pears in an airtight container up to 5 days
